StAR's Christmas Message

2017 has been a difficult year with the continued rise of the far right in Europe and the US and also the ongoing conflict in many areas of the Middle East and North Africa resulting in many refugees and displaced people. We must not forget, however, that there are good people in the world who will do what they can to show tolerance and love to all those who find themselves in difficult situations.

Here at StAR we are so grateful for all of those people.

To the hundreds of volunteers who have turned up to sort out the garages on a weekly basis, thank you!

To all the donors who continue to bring us the items that we need to provide shelter and clothing to refugees, thank you!

To the ladies who knit blankets and soft toys for refugee children, we thank you!

To all the people who have donated money over the last year and helped to feed thousands of people around the world, we thank you.

To all those who have accompanied us on our trips to Calais and Dunkirk we thank you!

To all those who have offered to teach, to counsel and to translate, we thank you!

To all those who have made their vehicles available to us in 2017, we thank you!

To all the people who have taken part in fundraising events, we thank you!

To all those who have driven miles to help deliver clothing to other charities to pass on around the world, we thank you!

To all those who have welcomed refugees into their communities, we thank you!

To all the different faith communities that have contributed to StAR, we thank you!

To all the Hertfordshire print and broadcasting journalists who have continued to cover StAR's work, we thank you!

You are all StARs and we couldn't do what we do without your continued support!

We wish peace, love and joy for you all this Christmas season and, regardless of what happens in 2018, we know that you will continue to be the generous, tolerant and outward looking people that we've come to know this year and that the world will be OK because you will make it so.
